The Princess Club, Redmoon’s next indoor spectacle, “is a wildly physical and thought-provoking romp through classic fairy tales including Cinderella and Snow White.” At least, that’s what it says on our homepage. We asked a member of the ensemble to put an answer to this question in her own words…

ENGINEER: What is The Princess Club?

PRINCESS: Princess fairy-tales have saturated our imagination and culture long before they were adapted for animated feature films and their attendant merchandise. These stories instruct, groom, and sometimes distort ideas about proper feminine behavior. In some cases, we see that being hard-working, loyal, and dignified is the natural, beneficial way to live. Other times we glean that silent, pretty obedience will bring the ultimate reward: a charming husband-prince who will whisk us away and cover us in riches. All of this is to say that playing dress-up and dancing and shrieking is amazing, except when your friends turn on you. Also, the wedding industry is out-of-control. Go get a manicure, seriously. They’re the best.
